Franking pays stamp duty by having an authorised bank or franking agent impress the duty directly onto the document before it is executed. It suits high-volume, standardised paperwork — lending files, retail finance agreements, employment and vendor contracts — where printing first and stamping in batches is more practical than sourcing paper per document.
